Update 4 Released | New Monster Girl | New Systems
Hello Monster Girl Lovers!
We're back with another major update for Monster Girl Descent which adds a new monster girl, the Harpy Girl. This update also includes new events, new items and more a couple of new artifacts!
We've focused a lot of the work for this update on improving the foundations of the roguelite element of the game. There should be a lot more events now where you'll need to balance risk and reward whilst exploring. We also have a better base to add many more events, items and more in a smoother manner in future updates.
Please be warned this update will clear your inventory on existing saves. Artifacts will not be affected.
Changelog:
New Content:
Added new monster girl, the Harpy Girl. She can be found in the cave and currently has one h-scene. Watch out for her powerful talons!
Interactable objects can now randomly spawn, some will have positive effects, others negative. Will the trade-off be worth it? (This system will be expanded with new objects and events in future updates)
The minimap has been upgraded, you can now enlarge it to see more clearly by clicking it or pressing "N".
Added a bunch of new random events that can occur upon entering a new floor. Is the risk worth the reward?
Added some new artifacts.
Added a visible health bar and nameplate for all enemies, this will also show any enemy states.
Added a new item system. You can now only carry a maximum of 3 consumable items, it was previously too easy to stack things like healing items and deck bombs. This should add another layer of difficulty and strategy to the game.
You can now actually get beer at the tavern if you have an available item slot and don't already have one. (The price of the beer depends on the level of the tavern.)
Added more room layouts and room types.
Fixes and Tweaks:
The Shops and Markets in town have been updated with new interfaces to align with the changes to the way items work.
The depth of field (blur) effect is now disabled by default for new installations. Reminder: It can be turned off/on and the strength adjusted in the settings!
Fixed parasite girl image not disappearing if you tell her no.
Fixed some issues with treasure chest spawns
Lots of fixes to the minimap.
Adjusted the starting cards for each class, the player starts with less super powerful cards to make it more rewarding when you do get powerful cards.
Refresh no longer takes the player over their max energy points. (for now).
Changed error text for trusty shovel boss floor to be more grammatically correct.
Adjusted the values of some overpowered cards such as singularity.
The battle log has been slowed down slightly to hopefully show attacks and effects more clearly.
Coming Next:
H-Scene for the Princess
Gobbo's shop and card rewards will take the player's class into account when deciding what is available for more class unique rewards.
More unique card reward drops depending on your class
More Monster Girls
More unique abilities and mechanics to all enemies, each one should now feel different to fight.
More Cards
More town locations and upgrade rewards.
More dungeon events, objects, rooms and locations.
A way to actually clear the game/end a successful run
