From the first mention of Lord Goblin in my interview with BBBen years ago, I’ve been following its evolution eagerly. Departing from his usual style, BBBen ventured into 2D gaming territory, and the result is nothing short of captivating. What began as mere screenshots has blossomed into a rich tapestry of art and narrative. With stunning visuals and compelling writing, Lord Goblin has earned its place as one of our Games of the Month for 2024. The journey from conception to reality has been remarkable, and as I prepared to dive back in, I can’t help but anticipate the adventures that lie ahead.
BBBen: The History
BBBen is one of the veterans when it comes to adult gamind development. He started out his
journey almost 10 years ago with the introduction with the first two games from his Pervert Action series. Pervert action Crisis and Future. Both games now considered good all classics where a great introduction into indie adult gaming for many in the west. There was not really a lot of indie adult games present on the market at that time.
The third installement in the series was called Perver Action: Legacy. The game was a text driven adventure with images, animations and even voice acting. This was a serious step up from the previous work and some still consider it a true classic myself included.
He rounded up the Pervert Action series with a game called Pervert Action: Timelapse. Timelaps brought new modern techincs to the table, the graphics was improved a lot compared to his older games. Voice actinga and animations remaind a strong point as well. The game is still in active development with the last version being released just a few months ago.
As I mentioned before BBBen announced a deviation from his work in our interview three years ago when he first showed us a frew screens from Lord Goblin. The change was obvious, the change of engine, art type and even narrative. Few things certainly remain though. Quality of execution and the Harem tag.
Lord Goblin: The Story
Game takes us to the enchanting world of Greenwood, where the tides of fate have taken a dramatic turn in Lord Goblin, BBBen’s latest creation. In this immersive adult game, players step into the shoes of a lowly goblin slave, owned by the captivating yet merciless Witch-Queen Az’ea.
However, destiny takes an unexpected twist when a spell cast by Az’ea goes awry, flipping the power dynamic on its head. Suddenly, you find yourself in the role of master, with Az’ea and a cadre of alluring maids at your beck and call within the confines of Greenwood Manor.
But your newfound authority comes with its own set of challenges. As Lord Goblin, you must govern your lands with wisdom, oversee the renovation of your castle, and train the naive maids entrusted to your care. Each decision you make will shape the fate of Greenwood and its inhabitants, as you navigate the complexities of power and desire.
As you embark on your journey as Lord Goblin, you’ll encounter a harem of seductive girls, each with their own personalities and desires. Through careful attention and affection, you’ll gradually earn their loyalty and affection slowling becoming their true master.
Lord Goblin: Gameplay
In the realm of Lord Goblin, gameplay takes on a unique blend of traditional narrative delivery intertwined with management and simulation elements, creating an adult sandbox visual novel experience. Players find themselves immersed in the role of managing various aspects of the estate while navigating complex relationships with Witch-Queen Az’ea and the maids under their command.
While the traditional narrative structure provides a solid foundation, Lord Goblin introduces management and simulation elements that add depth to the gameplay experience. From overseeing resource allocation to participating in castle renovations, players must balance their duties as a master with the desires of their subordinates.
However, the sandbox aspect of the game may not appeal to all players, as it can sometimes feel like a grind. Despite this, there are »workarounds« available to ease the burden of monotony, catering to those who prefer a more streamlined experience. While this aspect may be considered a minor flaw, it does not detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the game.
Lord Goblin: The Visuals & Sound
In Lord Goblin, the 2D artwork is truly exceptional, immersing players in a visually stunning world filled with intricate detail and masterful craftsmanship. Character designs are not only visually striking but also exude a captivating allure, contributing to the game’s immersive atmosphere. Each character is meticulously crafted with unique designs that set them apart in the gaming landscape.
Furthermore, animations further enhance the visual experience, particularly during adult scenes, adding an extra layer of depth and realism to the game world. As a fan of the hand-drawn art in Lord Goblin, I appreciate the dedication to detail that elevates the overall aesthetic of the game.
While the art undoubtedly shines, it’s the outstanding voice acting that truly steals the spotlight in Lord Goblin. Talented voice actors breathe life into the characters, delivering each line of dialogue with emotion and authenticity that adds depth and personality to the cast. Additionally, the captivating music track perfectly complements the medieval vibe of the game, further immersing players in the enchanting world of Lord Goblin.
Lord Goblin: The Sex
In Lord Goblin, the adult scenes are tastefully integrated into the narrative, adding depth and intimacy to character relationships. Each scene is meticulously crafted with attention to detail, featuring stunning artwork, animations, and voice acting that enhance the game’s sexual atmosphere.
You must perform regular sex rituals with women to prevent demonic incursions into the world. So it’s a good thing when an adventurer party, consisting of three attractive women, arrives to defeat the forces of evil. But instead the Witch-Queen Az’ea convinces them to become sexy maids for the portal rituals, using their bodies to give you pleasure AND protect the world.
Recently, the game introduced optional NTR content, where the Earl, who previously feared the witch, realizes she now serves a mere goblin and decides to visit. He demands taxes, which players can pay with money or by whoring out their maids to him. This feature can be toggled on or off in the game’s options menu, offering players control over their gaming experience.
Despite the current sexual content being somewhat limited, the existing scenes are executed with finesse, providing players with immersive experiences that is visually captivating. I am certainly looking forward to the next releases.
